Evelyn was born on September 12, 1918 in Scribner, Nebraska, the fourth of five daughters to Herman and Emma 'Stenvers' Stalling. She was confirmed on August 21, 1932 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Hooper. She graduated from Scribner High School in 1936 and from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1940. She taught school at Broken Bow, Neligh and Shenandoah, IA.
She began her partnership of life and love with Louis Ellermeier at Kountz Memorial Church in Omaha on June 11, 1943 by Pastor Walter Traube. They lived in Shenandoah, IA; Seattle, WA.; Farragut, ID.; Samson, NY.; Shoemaker, CA.; Shubert, NE.; and Laramie, WY.; before moving to the farm she grew up on, in 1950. Their children were born after their years of moving all over the country with Richard born in Laramie and Dean born after returning to the farm. She was a true farmer helping with all farm work, especially picking corn.
Throughout her life she was active in her church and community. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Hooper and the Evangelical Lutheran Church Women. She was also belonged to several card clubs.
She was a true Husker Fan!. She and Louie had season tickets to football games since 1964 and if she wasn't at the game she listened on the radio or watched on TV. She also was a Husker volleyball fan and if they were on TV, she was tuned in.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Louis in Jan. 2004 and daughter-in-law Kathy Ellermeier. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sisters - Agnes Peters, Marcella Suhr, Alice Miller and Doris Stalling.
The funeral will be 10:30am Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Hooper. The Rev. Judy Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Paul's Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Scribner Rescue Squad. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm all at the Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel.
