He was born January 8, 1928 in Victoria, Texas to Martin and Pauline (Pfenninger) Ritzen. During his early childhood years, he moved with his family to Fontanelle, Nebraska where his father was to be the pastor of Salem Lutheran Church. He left school before graduating to join the United States Army, serving from April of 1946 to December of 1947. Not long ago, he was one of several WW II veteran's who left school early to serve in the military, who received their high school diploma.
After finishing electronics school in Omaha, Lee worked for the former radio station KFGT in Fremont, and then went to work as an engineer for television station KMTV 3 in Omaha.
On August 1, 1948, Lee's father, the Rev. Martin Ritzen was the presiding minister as Lee was married to Wilma Jean Ruwe in Fontanelle. The couple made their home in Omaha until moving to Fontanelle in 1987, and Lee retired from KMTV in 1989.
He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle.
Lee was preceded in death by his wife in November of 2006, and by a sister Ruth Ellen Hansen.

A memorial service will be on Friday, February 10, 2012, at 2 PM, in the Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle with the Rev. Robert Hayden officiating. There will be no public visitation. The committal will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to his church. Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, is in charge of the arrangements.
