Leonard was born August 18, 1928 in Clarkson, Nebraska to James and Blanche (Sixta) Podliska. In his early childhood years, he came with his family to Fremont. He grew up here and graduated from Fremont High School. In later years, he earned an Associates Degree from Bellevue College.

Following his military service in the United States Air Force, he worked for Northern Natural Gas Co. Due to his work, he and his family had lived in various places, including Texas, Iowa, and Colorado. He retired in Bellevue.

Leonard was married to the former Lucille Phinney, who was born and raised in Fremont.

Leonard is survived by his wife Lucille, and daughter Christy Podliska, both of Bellevue. He was preceded in death by a daughter Kimberly, and a sister.

The family and friends are invited to meet at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, on Friday at 1:30 PM, to go to Memorial Cemetery for a graveside service at 2 PM. The United States Flag will be presented by the Fremont Honor Guard of American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854.

"So sorry to hear of "Pod's" death. I worked at NNG for 9 years in Bellevue, part time only, but Pod was a great boss and a great guy. For some reason, I was thinking about him this past week, wondering if he was still in the area, etc. and then happened to see the obit in the paper. My condolences to the family.
