Verdelle R. Banghart, age 77, of Colon, Nebraska;
died early Tuesday (March 15, 2016) in South Haven Living Center in Wahoo.

She was born June 28, 1938 in Fremont to Rudolph and Marquerite (Hasselstrom) Jensen. She grew up in Saunders County as her parents had lived on 3 different farms between Cedar Bluffs and Colon. Verdelle was baptized, confirmed, and attended Sunday School at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Cedar Bluffs. She attended rural school district 60 through the 8th grade and graduated from Cedar Bluffs High School in 1955. Following high school she worked for the State Bank in Colon until her marriage to Robert Banghart on November 18, 1956 in St. Matthews Lutheran Church. They lived all their married years in Colon.

After their children were in the upper grades of grade school and high school, Verdelle went to work at Platte Valley Foods (onion ring factory) in Wahoo. Later, she worked for Campbell Soup in Fremont and then she went back to Platte Valley Foods.

Verdelle and Bob loved 'motorcycle traveling' all over the United States during his vacation time. For several years, she had her own Honda Gold Wing. They had been members of the Retreads Motorcycle Club and the UMCI (United Motorcycle Club International). They later they continued to travel in a motor home.

Verdelle enjoyed picture taking, flowers, birds, traveling, crafts, reading, and some fishing and hunting.

She was preceded by her husband Bob in February of 2013, and by her parents.

several nieces and nephews

The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Saturday (March 19th) in Wahoo at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kathleen Splitt. The committal will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery south of Cedar Bluffs. Visitation at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont, will be Friday from 3 to 8 PM with family present 5 to 8 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
