"Sylvia, you probably don't remember my brother David and I, we used to live around the block from your family on 14th st. when we were growing up. In the summer months we used to see Virgil almost every day. My mother Evelyn passed away in 2008 and her room was across the hall from Virgil's at Arbor Manor and we got reacquainted. I was so surprised that he knew me right away without an introduction and I hadn't seen him in nearly 20 years. I've lived in California for nearly 30 years. Seeing his name in the paper brought back a lot of memories from when we were all kids. We are so sorry for your loss."

"Virgil was a good friend, perhaps my best friend in high school. Even though I moved away from Fremont in 1954, we maintained that friendship through greeting cards, phone calls and occasional visits through the years that followed. I visited with him a year ago when I came to Nebraska to bury my father. Though his body was failing, that sparkle of friendship resonated from his eyes and it will be a memory never forgotten. Until we meet again, dear friend, until then, farewell."
