Wayne Eric Sund passed away Friday, July 3, 2015, at the age of 59 years.
Wayne was born Oct. 24, 1955, to Walter and Bertha Sund in Greenfield, Iowa. He attended Westgate Elementary in Omaha before moving to Fremont and graduated from Fremont Senior High School in 1973. On May 29, 1976, he married Vicky Hanna.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Wayne Curtis (Birgit) Sund of Jonestown, Texas, Christopher (Courtney) Sund of Fremont, and Katie (Clint) Paulson of Elkhorn; six grandchildren, Leya and Lara Sund, Caleb, Noah and Ryan Sund, and Paisley Paulson; his brother, Daniel (Ann) Flood of Norfolk; his sister, Nancy (Judson) Skoog-Smith of Fremont; his brother, Warren (Sandy) Sund of Fremont; and his sister, Sally Shanks of Scribner.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Sund; his mother, Bertha Sund; and his brother, Robert Flood.
Wayne worked at Valmont Industries for 36 years and was currently the grounds maintenance for the Louis E. May Museum. Wayne loved boating, gardening and being outdoors.
He was an incredible father, grandfather and husband that instilled life's greatest lessons in those around him. It brought him joy to put the needs of those around him before his own. He often said, "You can plan for the future, but you can't plan the outcome."
Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont. The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. A luncheon will be followed by burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha.
According to his wishes, his body will be cremated.
