Ted D. Arps, age 86, of Scribner,
died Tuesday (June 16th) in the Good Samaritan Center in Scribner where he has been a resident since August of 2014.

He was born September 28, 1928 north of Purple Cane in Dodge County to Chris and Jennie (Ruzicka) Arps. He was baptized in the Purple Cane Methodist Church and attended school district 79.

In 1946 Ted moved to Snyder with his parents. In Snyder he worked for several different people, and at the Farmers Union Co-op. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1951 and was stationed at several US Army bases before shipping out to Germany and France. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1952.

After his military service he returned to Snyder and began working for Hormel Foods in Fremont for the next 30 years. He lived in Fremont for a time, and then moved to an acreage east of Scribner. After his retirement, he moved into Scribner where he lived until his death. He loved to garden, hunt, travel and attend auctions.

His survivors include a sister-in-law Doloris Arps of Worland, Wyoming and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, Chris, Leonard, Augie, Leroy, Pete, and Lester; by 5 sisters, Nora Hallowell, Eva Hoge, Mattie Hoge, Elizabeth Halstead, and Elva Koester

There will be visitation for family and friends at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel on Sunday (June 21st) from 3 to 7 PM. A private burial service in the Purple Cane Cemetery will be on Monday.
